History

Local 212 of the Transport Workers Union was organized and chartered in 1998. The employees at (then DAVES TRANSIT and now ATC VAN COM) for the Handi-Cap Bus services at COTA saw a need for a Union because of the mistreatment by management at that time. We overwhelming selected and elected the TWU to represent us.

We then went out and helped other workers in the area to organize and bring equality and justice to their work places.

We went from a Local with one contract representing about 75 people to a Local with four contracts at three work locations with 212 members.

We feel we have come a long way in a short time. We are still looking for other workers that are in need of Union support to bring a fair and just environment to their work place.
